Mission
The Supporters of The Dennis COA is a 501(c)(3) not for profit volunteer organization, founded in 2012, to raise funds exclusively for the Dennis Senior Center. Our mission is to ensure the programs and services of the Dennis Senior Center are available to all who need them. Our vision is an active and accessible Dennis Senior Center for all.
Patio is Open
Thanks to all of you who joined us in the dedication ceremony of the Senior Center Patio that was made possible through a grant from AARP, as well as contributions from the Supporters. The patio offers another comfortable, accessible space in our facility for all to enjoy.

In 1979 the founders of The Friends of Dennis Senior Citizens were on a crusade, they wanted to create a center for seniors in the Town of Dennis. They wanted it to be a gathering place to socialize and where people could get support and live out retirement in fellowship. Their single-minded vision and “can do” spirit raised both the consciousness and the funds that built the Dennis Senior Center, and their mission was completed on September 10, 1981. The Friends managed the center for three years, and in 1984 The Friends donated it to the Town of Dennis mortgage free! Now known as the Dennis Center for Active Living (DCAL) it is still a place where seniors go to enjoy life.
Since our founding as a charitable organization our mission has been to be actively concerned with the welfare and quality of life for seniors in the Town of Dennis. We donate to groups which are like minded through our Planned Giving Program and we have awarded grants to many organizations and encourage these groups to help Dennis seniors.

The Friends have provided financial support for many Dennis seniors in need and work closely with the Dennis Council on Aging Social Services staff. There are other ways the Friends have responded to the needs of Dennis seniors like hosting social activities that bring seniors together for fun and entertainment. We are able do all this, in large part, with the support of our wonderful members, donors, and volunteers. Below are more detailed descriptions of the many endeavors we undertake to fulfill our mission.
SUPPORTERS and FRIENDS – WHY TWO SEPARATE GROUPS?
The Town of Dennis has been fortunate to count on two non-profit organizations, one dedicated to supporting the Dennis Council on Aging’s (COA) service area constituents and the other, to supporting Dennis Center for Active Living’s (DCAL) programs and services. Both are needed. Your gifts to the Supporters go directly to supporting DCAL social and health promotion programs, the Golden Age Program (respite memory care), the DCAL Café, Veterans & Friends, and more. The DCAL needs this support to maintain the level of programs we can offer.
SUPPORTERS of Dennis COA, Inc. – All Volunteer
A 501c3 tax exempt public charity, when you donate to the Supporters, you directly support DCAL special events, support groups, fitness, health and wellness, and grant proposals to develop the resources available to over 2700 registered members. All funds collected go directly to costs associated with special events, programs, and resources for the center. Donations are tax deductible.
FRIENDS of Dennis Senior Citizens, Inc. – Part-Time Office Manager
When you donate to the Friends, you directly support the Friends’ office staff, emergency assistance to individual residents and households, grants to Cape Cod organizations, and four annual fundraising events, including Daffodil Day and the Friend’s Christmas Giving Program.
Both organizations contribute to the same great goal: the health and wellbeing of Dennis residents over 60, their families, caregivers and friends.
